Magnificent mid-century cocoon tripod floor lamp, dating from the 1960s.
The lampshade, reminiscent of George Nelson's "bubble lamp", was created using a special technology called "fiberglass spray coating", a technique inspired by the silkworm. This is why the lamp is also known as a "cocoon lamp".
