A beautiful, authentic vintage Chinese storage cabinet/bookcase from the mid to late 20th century (circa 1960s/70s). The furniture is in solid, neat condition and is a magnificent example of Asian craftsmanship that fits perfectly into an eclectic, vintage or Hollywood Regency interior.
Unique And Authentic Features:
Detailed Woodcarving: The four doors feature very deep and sharply hand-carved relief panels with traditional Chinese dragons amidst clouds. The bottom of the cabinet is decorated with the well-known Shou symbol (sign for a long and happy life).
Traditional Construction: The frame of the cabinet is traditionally constructed with classic mortise and tenon joints, reinforced with wooden dowels.
Original Inspection Label: Inside, there is still the original, handwritten paper factory label of the master furniture carver (邢八弟 - Xíng Bādì). This gives the furniture unique historical value and proves its vintage originality.
Includes Traditional Locks: The cabinet comes with the two original, richly engraved brass padlocks (guăngsuŏ) including the corresponding key (1 key is broken, but the lock functions. The locks feature the good luck symbol Fu (福) and still work excellently via the traditional spring mechanism.
Layout And Condition:The cabinet has four hinged doors with a sleek and practical interior behind them, equipped with sturdy, fixed wooden shelves. Ideal for use as a bookcase, display cabinet or unique storage unit in the living room. The wood and lacquer layer are in very good vintage condition with only minimal, normal signs of age.
