This unique table mirror in pewter, mother-of-pearl and burr amboyna is of French origin and dates from the early 20th century. The ornamental motifs of the piece, inspired by nature - butterflies, climbing vegetation - are enhanced by the iridescence of the mother-of-pearl and underline the contrast between the pewter and the burr amboyna, a precious wood often used for exceptional pieces. This mirror is a perfect testimony to the Art Nouveau movement that emerged at the end of the 19th century in reaction to the increasing industrialization that followed Europe's second industrial revolution. The mirror has been restored and is in very good condition.
