Vintage pressed glass bottle coaster, dating from around the 1930s-1940s. Its geometric design is characteristic of the Art Deco period, when even the simplest objects fully contributed to the refinement of the table. The center features a large starburst rosette composed of long ribs emanating from a small circular medallion. A smooth band encircles this motif before meeting the scalloped edge. Wide rounded facets punctuate the border and give the piece an almost floral silhouette. This interplay of smooth and raised surfaces enlivens the glass with beautiful graphic precision. Light passes through the ribs, refracts off the facets, and reveals a succession of sharp flashes. The clear glass then acquires a vibrant, crystalline depth. The piece is unsigned. It retains some light traces of use consistent with its age. Approximately 15 cm in diameter.
