Product description
Vibrant and luminous oil on canvas by post-impressionist painter Urbain Huchet (1930–2014), depicting the picturesque animation of the famous Rue de la Huchette in the Latin Quarter of Paris. The work is characterized by a palette knife technique, painting a stylized crowd strolling between light-bathed Parisian facades. The luminous facades, treated in cream, turquoise, grey, and violet tones, contrast with the dark figures in the foreground. The free and expressive brushwork gives the whole a lively atmosphere, characteristic of the artist's urban scenes. The canvas is signed 'Huchet' in the lower right. The reverse is also signed and bears the handwritten title 'La Rue de la Huchette'. Presented in a rich Montparnasse-style frame in gilded wood with fluting and a beige linen slip. Art framer's label preserved on the back. Total height: 43 cm Total width: 51 cm Depth: 6 cm Sight dimensions: 27 × 35.5 cm Good overall condition. The canvas shows no damage. The frame retains small signs of wear and gilding irregularities, while the reverse shows some age-related marks and light stains.
