Unique Set of 5x Verner Panton 'System 1-2-3' Dining Chairs – Original 70s Fritz Hansen
A unique opportunity for the design enthusiast or interior architect: a beautiful, uniform set of no less than five original Verner Panton 'System 1-2-3' Dining Chairs. Finding an identical and immediately usable set of five pieces of this iconic model is an absolute rarity on the current design market.
Design & Execution
This concerns the elegant dining chair variant with a comfortable seat height of 47 cm, from the 'Standard' series. The chairs are characterized by the legendary, organic S-shape for which Verner Panton has become world-famous. The chairs were expertly and professionally reupholstered in the past with high-quality, genuine black leather. Authenticity & Unique Details. Base: All five chairs stand on the original, swivel, solid cast aluminum trumpet bases from the 1970s, produced by Fritz Hansen. The underside displays the verified, authentic 8-spoke molding pattern with the plastic floor glides.
Zipper:
During the reupholstering, the iconic, functional zipper on the back of the S-frame has been perfectly preserved. This is the defining visual feature of the early 70s editions. Technically Perfect: The frames and the swivel mechanism are technically 100% sound and have absolutely no play, which is very rare for chairs of this age.
Fully Restored Internal Structure: Not only has the leather been renewed; at the zipper opening, it is clearly visible that the elastic webbing (suspension) and comfort foam have also been professionally replaced. As a result, the chairs once again offer the original, firm support and are ready for the next decades.
Condition:
The set is approximately 50 years old and is in beautiful, ready-to-use vintage condition. The genuine black leather is completely intact (no tears or holes, normal light signs of use) and has developed natural, supple creases through use. This gives the set a beautiful, weathered vintage character. Naturally, there are normal signs of wear on the base commensurate with its age.
