Unique and hard-to-find Dutch 2.5-seater design sofa from the arX collection by Gelderland, Culemborg, Model 8230. The sofa has a distinct sculptural design with large curved armrests ending in the characteristic curl shape. This design language is strongly connected to the work of Maroeska Metz for the arX collection. Model 8230 proves difficult to find nowadays, making this a striking example within the arX collection. Despite its sculptural form, this is not just a decorative design object. The sofa is a spacious 2.5-seater and comfortably seats three people, with plenty of room to spare. The seating is active and comfortable: pleasantly supportive and comfortable for sitting for longer periods, without the deep sinking of a very soft lounge sofa. This piece has also been exceptionally well preserved. The upholstery is clean and free of stains, and no pets have been on the sofa. The wooden elements and the characteristic curls are also in very neat condition. The original arX certificate is present. It lists Model Number 8230 and the original upholstery Phidias 12850.
