Rare round coffee table designed by Tue Poulsen for Haslev Møbelsnedkeri, Denmark, dating from the 1960s.
The table combines a warm teak frame with a striking inset composition of handcrafted ceramic tiles. The ceramic surface is arranged in a highly graphic radial pattern, with concentric rings of brown, charcoal, cream and ochre-toned elements. Several of the inner tiles feature impressed circular and linear motifs, giving the surface a distinctly tactile and sculptural quality.
The restrained geometry of the wooden construction contrasts beautifully with the expressive ceramic centre, creating a characteristic example of Danish post-war design in which furniture, craft and applied art merge into a single object.
The table stands on four solid, gently tapered legs. The construction is robust and visually refined, with the ceramic panel set flush within the broad teak surround.
The underside retains the original Haslev Møbelsnedkeri label, including the handwritten marking “Nr. 41”, an important detail confirming the manufacturer and period origin.
The table is preserved in very good vintage condition. The ceramic elements are complete and remain visually strong, with no obvious major losses. The teak shows only light age-related traces of use and retains a warm, even patina.
