Flavio Poli is widely regarded as one of the most prolific and capable designers of Murano glass vases and objects in general. He collaborated with some of Murano's most influential and skilled glass makers to create timeless design pieces. Of all his works, the ones that gave him the most fame are without a doubt the "Sommersi", a style that was quickly imitated by other creators and is still very popular to this day. They are vases, ashtrays, paperweights characterized by the juxtaposition of vibrant colors in contrasting shades that generate a beautiful overall picture. In 1954, the original collection earned him the Golden Compass, the most important prize for Italian designers. The current vase is indeed made in the "Sommerso" style, and is very charming. It is very well preserved, with no visible spot marks or dents. It presents the expected patina of a 50+ year old glass object. The price is based on the rarity of this art object.
