This is the iconic 'Planta' coat rack, a design by Italian designer Giancarlo Piretti for manufacturer Castelli. The piece is a striking example of the functional and innovative design from the Space Age period. The 'Planta' is characterized by its clever, space-saving features and sculptural form, making it a sought-after object among collectors of Italian design. Made from durable ABS plastic, this freestanding coat rack is finished in a soft cream color. The most distinctive detail are the six hooks at the top, which can be individually folded in to create a sleek, cylindrical shape when not in use. At the bottom there are two fold-out holders that serve as an umbrella stand, further emphasizing the design's functionality. This model was produced in Bologna, Italy, and bears the stamp of the manufacturer and designer on the underside of the base. The coat rack is in very good condition, retaining its original shine and structure.
