Product description
A striking set of eight ‘Sail’ dining chairs, designed by Giovanni Offredi for Saporiti Italia in 1973. The model belongs to the highly distinctive collection that Offredi created during his influential collaboration with Saporiti in the 1970s. Each chair is built around a sculptural, glossy black, molded structure. A wide, curved front support is balanced by two slender rear legs, while the visible upper part of the frame forms an integrated handle above the backrest. The fully upholstered seat and backrest appear to extend around this architectural construction, giving the chair the sleek, flowing character suggested by the name. The deeply contoured seat rises organically on both sides and curves around the body, combining a strong visual presence with significant comfort. The rounded backrest continues the same flowing silhouette, creating a design that appears to consist almost entirely of flowing lines. The chairs have retained their original upholstery in a warm apricot to salmon color, woven with a small contrasting light blue-gray geometric motif. The original textile upholstery gives the set a particularly authentic and expressive appearance and forms a refined contrast with the glossy black frames. Both the molded Saporiti Italia mark on the frame and the repeatedly woven manufacturer's name under the upholstery document the set's provenance.
