Dutch modern set of six chairs from the Amsterdamse school. The original upholstery creates an authentic quality. The Amsterdam School is famous for its architecture, both in the Netherlands and abroad. However, the school's spectacular interior designs are less well known. In the early 1900s, the designers of the Amsterdam School radically transformed the applied arts, and with its rich, expressive forms, the Amsterdam School (1910-1930) is unique in the Netherlands. The movement was not limited to architecture, but also included designs for furniture, lamps, clocks, ceramics and textiles. The style was taken up by all disciplines, including graphic design, in which a relatively large number of women were active, including Tine Baanders and Fré Cohen.
