About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is a set of six authentic CH24 Wishbone chairs, designed by the master of Danish modernism, Hans J. Wegner, and produced by Carl Hansen & Søn. The chairs are defined by their iconic Y-shaped back, which provides both structural support and a distinctive, elegant silhouette that has made it a design classic since its introduction in 1950.
Each chair features a solid wood frame finished in a sophisticated black lacquer, which contrasts beautifully with the natural paper cord seat. The top rail and armrest are steam-bent from a single piece of wood, a testament to the advanced craftsmanship involved in its production. The seat itself is meticulously hand-woven from over 120 meters of paper cord, a durable and comfortable material that patinates gracefully over time. These pieces are confirmed to be made in Denmark.
This particular set presents in excellent condition, showing minimal signs of use. The black lacquered finish is consistent and well-preserved across all six chairs, and the paper cord seats are tight, clean, and structurally sound, indicating careful maintenance. The overall integrity and aesthetic of the original design are fully intact.
An enduring symbol of Scandinavian design, this set of six Wishbone chairs is perfectly suited for a contemporary dining room. Their timeless form complements a range of interior styles, from Mid-Century Modern to minimalist and organic modern, serving as both functional seating and a significant design statement.
