Product description
A rare and beautifully preserved set of four early Eero Saarinen Series 71 Executive Armchairs, manufactured by Knoll in the 1960s. These examples retain their original black leather upholstery, distinguished by the visible nail-head detailing on the back—a hallmark of very early production and a highly desirable feature for collectors.
The chairs display Saarinen’s iconic organic form, offering exceptional comfort while maintaining a sculptural, architectural presence. The chromed steel legs lend elegance and lightness, making the chairs equally suitable for dining, workspaces, or sophisticated accent seating. The original leather has aged gracefully, showing a beautiful patina that adds depth, authenticity, and character.
Early Series 71 armchairs with untouched leather and original construction details are increasingly scarce, making this set a standout addition for design enthusiasts and mid-century collectors.
Details: • Designer: Eero Saarinen • Model: Series 71 Executive Armchair • Manufacturer: Knoll • Period: 1960s • Upholstery: Original black leather with early nail-back detail • Condition: Very good vintage condition; leather shows natural wear and patina consistent with age; frames show minor wear An exceptional early set of Saarinen’s Executive Armchairs—highly collectible, beautifully preserved, and rich with original mid-century detail.
