Set of 3 pristine hand-painted polychrome earthenware tiles from Koninklijke Tichelaar in Makkum. This company is the oldest ceramics company in the Netherlands and is known for its traditional Frisian earthenware.
The tile exhibits the following characteristics:
Corner motifs: Blue "ox heads" or stylized French lilies (fleur-de-lis) are depicted in the corners, which is typical of traditional Dutch tiles.
Dating: Although the style is based on 17th-century designs, the brightness of the glaze and the finish often point to a 20th-century production (e.g., 1960s or 1970s).
