Oil on cardboard, dimensions including frame. Sami Briss was born in 1929 in Briss, Romania. Thirty years later he moved to Israel. In 1974 he moved to Paris, where he still lives. As a painter he often incorporates the concept of nostalgia in his work. Child memories are captured through harmony and stylized figures. His use of gold leaf can be associated with both Jewish tradition and Romanian Christian folk art. Briss has been exhibited throughout Europe.
