This is a beautiful example of the iconic Coffee table that Rudolf Bernd Glatzel designed in the middle of the last century for the renowned Dutch manufacturer Fristho. This piece of furniture is a testament to the high quality and refined design for which the manufacturer from Franeker was known worldwide at the time. The most striking feature is the teak top, laid in a characteristic block pattern. This gives the table a rich, lively appearance with deep color nuances. The top rests on a slender and airy base of chrome-plated metal, which creates that typical minimalist effect. The legs are finished in the characteristic Glatzel style with solid teak "socks", a detail that provides a warm and refined transition to the floor. This table has recently been carefully restored. Both the woodwork and the metal have been addressed. To keep the furniture functional in daily use, the top is provided with a unique, almost invisible coating. This offers optimal protection against the influences of grease, dirt and moisture, without affecting the natural appearance and texture of the wood. This Glatzel Coffee table is in absolutely beautiful condition and is a timeless investment that immediately adds luxury and character to a modern or Mid Century interior. Traces of use appropriate to age and purpose. A period-correct repair was carried out on one edge by a furniture maker on behalf of the first owner, not disturbing and carefully done so that this table could and can last for years again.
