Product description
This is a porcelain wall plate from the Danish manufacturer Royal Copenhagen, issued in 1961. The piece is part of the highly collectible annual series of Christmas plates, a tradition dating back to 1908. This specific plate was designed by Kai Lange and depicts the majestic sailing ship 'Skoleskibet Danmark'.
The plate is crafted from high-quality porcelain and executed in the characteristic cobalt blue underglaze, a technique for which Royal Copenhagen is renowned worldwide. The image depicts the Danish training ship on the open sea, framed by a decorative border with pine cone motifs and the year 1961. The reverse side features the factory mark, the designer's signature, and the title of the work.
The overall condition of this vintage object is excellent, retaining its original colors and luster. The porcelain is intact and shows no signs of wear beyond what can be expected from a carefully preserved piece from this period. A hanging system is attached to the back, making it immediately ready for display.
