This is a striking art object by the Dutch artist Roy van der Laars, titled 'Broken Brick' from the 'Criminal Minds' series. The work is designed as a side table and combines provocative themes with a sleek, modern aesthetic.
The object consists of a transparent sheet of epoxy or plexiglass, into which various elements have been cast. Visible are, among other things, replicas of banknotes, bullet casings, and a block with a scorpion motif, referencing the title 'Columbia'.
