Masterpiece of postmodern design: Pair of monumental sculptural coat racks in homage to René Magritte, published in Italy by the famous house Antartidee during the 1980s. True functional Sculpture, these exceptional pieces embody the subversive and poetic spirit of Belgian surrealism combined with Italian craftsmanship. Finding an identical and perfectly symmetrical pair is now an absolute rarity on the art market. Each piece incorporates two of Magritte's most famous visual manifestos : The crown (Upper part) : Four three-dimensional relief noses fixed on a black geometric block, directly echoing the work "La Bonne Aventure" (1937). The base : A masterful reinterpretation of the famous oil painting "Le Modèle Rouge" (1935), where the human foot disturbingly merges with a laced leather boot. Technical details & condition: Publisher: Antartidee (Italy). Period: 1980s / postmodern era. Materials: Lacquered tubular metal structure, hand-sculpted and painted art resin for the anatomical elements. Dimensions: Monumental height of approximately 170cm – 30cm. Condition: Excellent vintage conservation condition. The original patinas are superb, the structure is perfectly stable. Minimal, very discreet traces of use that bear witness to their history without altering their superb visual impact.
