This bright pink faience pitcher is a souvenir from Peneda-Gerês National Park, in northern Portugal, one of the most beautiful natural regions of the Iberian Peninsula. The inscription “Recordação do Gerês, Portugal” is applied in gold lettering on the reverse side, testifying to a time when travel souvenirs were quality objects, designed to last. Its flared conical shape, pinched spout, and flattened ribbon handle form a classic silhouette of the Portuguese water pitcher. The bright glossy pink enamel, enhanced with two gilded bands, frames a polychrome floral bouquet in shades of red, yellow, and blue on a reserved white background. The interior is glazed in glossy ivory white. Approximately 13 cm high. In excellent condition, enamel intact, gilding well preserved. A quality souvenir piece, with a vibrant and luminous pink, that fits equally well into a faience collection or a colorful and cheerful decor.
