Discover a fascinating work by Pierre-François Vaysse in ink on paper, where abstraction takes on an almost supernatural dimension. The biomorphic shapes, intertwined and moving, seem to stretch and merge, as if drawn towards a mysterious elsewhere, evoking the idea of a couple or figures drawn into the beyond.
The richly graphic composition draws on Oriental and Persian influences, while retaining the artist's own singular identity. The eye is drawn to the meticulous details, the tension of lines and motifs, inviting contemplation and interpretation. **Biography of Pierre-François & Nicole Vaysse**
The group of works offered in this sale provides a rare opportunity to discover the work of Pierre-François and Nicole Vaysse, a Belgian artist couple as talented as they are mysterious. Active in the 1970s in Lasnes, south of Brussels, they created a body of art brut and abstraction of great sophistication, while remaining deliberately outside the traditional art circuits.
Pierre-François has distinguished himself by depicting fantastical figures and abstract compositions with a hint of Eastern influences, while Nicole has explored biomorphic abstraction and motifs inspired by Persian art. Together, they have developed a unique visual language, at the crossroads of art brut and outsider art.
Their work, long in the shadows, has only recently been rediscovered, thanks to the purchase of their house in Lasnes, where their studio was found intact. Today, for the first time, these works are presented to the public, offering an exceptional opportunity to discover the creative wealth and artistic freedom of a couple who remained on the bangs, but whose work deserves the full attention of lovers of art brut and abstraction.
