Bought at Donkersloot Amsterdam Original work.BIOGRAPHY PETER DONKERSLOOT Peter Donkersloot (1959) was born in Arnhem, at Bakenbergseweg 136, as the son of parents Hilda Blom (1933) and Piet Donkersloot (1930-1986). Father Piet worked at home in his studio on the attic floor as an illustrator of books, book covers and magazines. It was the 1960s when Piet Donkersloot became a well-known illustrator. He contributed to the only women's magazine published at that time; Margriet. It is almost inconceivable that no other weeklies were published in which only the double inner page, exactly in the middle, was printed in color. This so-called 'spread' was provided with a romantic follow-up story for the readers every week. Piet Donkersloot provided the story with his illustrations on both pages. When this drawing was made on his studio table, Peter was sitting on his father's lap as a little boy. He watched the creation of the drawings for hours and hours. Peter mentions this impressive experience from his childhood - in which he saw his father mix paint with a brush and saw that paint change into spectacular paintings of nature reserves with a beautifully dressed woman and man who often rode on horseback towards the castle, in the setting sun with colorful flowers in the meadow. Peter Donkersloot calls this experience the 'deep-rooted' basis of his painting career. His mother Hilda Blom later developed into a now well-known landscape painter living in Tiel. It is an artistic family. Sister Anne Donkersloot (1964) and brother Wouter Verburgt (1970) also continue their path as artists. After attending the art academy in Arnhem for several years, Peter joined the then creative and famous advertising agency; 'Fransen, Hey and Veldman'. Here Peter joined the design and drawing department where he laid the foundation for his technique. After all, by drawing up ideas for commercials and advertisements every day, the beginner learns all the difficulties of realistic drawing and painting. After a few years, Peter left advertising to fulfill his great wish; free painting in modern-figurative style. To this day , Peter Donkersloot has maintained his style and has remained a highly specialized painter in the most realistic, figurative painting style. Just like the 17th century masters, Peter paints in transparent layers from dark to light. Previous oil painters sometimes had to wait weeks for each layer to dry before painting over it again, but Peter can now work faster thanks to today's fast-drying paints. The structure of the paintings has remained traditional. Peter's latest works can be found at his home in the Donkersloot gallery in Kerk-Avezaath, where he also has his studio, just like father Piet, on the attic floor. The entire house is public and can be viewed by appointment. Paintings and portraits, existing but also commissioned, can be ordered exclusively from Peter Donkersloot . We will discuss your personal wishes and ideas with you and Peter Donkersloot. Not only portraits belong to Peter Donkersloot's portfolio. Donkersloot also paints cityscapes, celebrities, animals or vistas on commission.Very small inconspicuous crack
