Product description
Article: Ceramic fat lava vases set of 2 Producer: HARTWIG HEYNE, Germany The pottery was founded in 1850 in Tschöpeln in Silesia on the border to Lusatia, here there were deposits of white and light gray clay. The pottery craft was the main source of income in the small town with about 330 inhabitants, which received the Germanized name of Töpferstedt in 1936. Heyne, one of nine potteries in town, employed up to 50 people here. After the end of World War II, the Heyne family moved from Czaple, now in Poland, to Oer-Erkenschwick. Christine Heyne, the daughter of the family, founded a new, smaller pottery business there together with her aunt Meta at Esseler Str. 2, which operated under the name Hartwig Heyne GmbH[1]. Christine Heyne's son Hans Bellers was the last master potter in the family when the company closed in 2005. All items of pottery were handmade. For West German production, which mostly consisted of vases or pitcher vases, an ultramarine-colored, matt glaze was used, but also bright red, orange, and yellow glazes.[2][3] The pottery was known to collectors as Hoy pottery for many years, with the incised mark of the floor signature Hey being misinterpreted as Hoy. Other works were signed with Heyne or individual letters Decade: 1970s Set of 2 original vintage Studio Pottery vases was produced in the 1970s by HARTWIG HEYNE Ceramics, Germany. The two vases do have the typical HEYNE Ceramic coloration in red-orange and black, with the Brutalist surface structure. These pieces are very rare and hard to find items of the highly collectible HEYNE Series. Straightforward and minimalistic design of the 1970s design era. This item is a wonderful addition to every modern home.
