Large Pair of Chinese Ceramic Elephant Garden Seats or Plant Stands, Dating From the 20th Century.
Each Elephant Is Richly Modelled With Elaborate Caparisons, Harnesses and Saddle Cloths, Finished in Turquoise-Green Glaze With Cream, Cobalt Blue and Iron-Red/Brown Details. The Surfaces Show Natural Crazing, Glaze Wear and Age-Related Traces.
The Two Pieces Show Differences in Their Construction: One Appears to Have Been Produced as an Integral Piece, While on the Other the Elephant Was Separately Made and Attached to the Plinth. They Are Therefore Best Described as a Near Pair of the Same Decorative Type.
Their Substantial Size Makes Them Suitable as Plant Stands, Low Side Tables or Architectural Decorative Pieces.
