This characterful set was found by us in Germany in a region known for its quality antiques and excellently preserved furniture. A beautiful, identical pair of antique oak armchairs in the characteristic Louis XIII style (Pair of Louis XIII armchairs). This is a unique pair from the Historicism period (circa 1880–1910), made of heavy and solid oak. Thanks to their symmetrical appearance, this set of two chairs is perfectly suited as an eye-catcher on either side of a sideboard, fireplace, or in a grand hall or bedroom. Features and details: Woodwork: Front legs with beautifully turned balls (turned in chaplet / turned in bulb) and a sturdy H-shaped base (H-shaped base). The armrests transition into elegantly turned supports (baluster armrests). Upholstery: Featuring a rich, red and gold jacquard/damask fabric with a classic baroque pattern (damask style tapestry), elegantly finished with classic decorative nails (upholstery nails). With their high, straight backrest (high backrest), these chairs are absolute eye-catchers. Perfect for a classic or country interior, or as a historical design contrast in a sleek, modern interior (historical contrast in a modern interior). Construction: Entirely made of solid oak with the authentic, traditional wooden mortise and tenon joints still fully intact. Condition: The chairs are in a neat, sturdy, and immediately usable antique condition. The chairs have absolutely not sagged. The woodwork has a beautifully aged patina that matches its age (over 115 years old). They have always been carefully stored indoors in a dry, smoke-free room (only placed in the garden room for the photos).
