Product description
Arraiolos tapestry is a traditional, hand-embroidered wool tapestry made in the town of Arraiolos in the Alentejo region of Portugal. Dating back to at least the 16th century, these rugs use a specialized oblique cross-stitch on a coarse linen or jute canvas to create dense, flat-surfaced floor coverings with Persian, Moorish, and European floral influences. Here we offer a pair of round Arraiolos tapestry cushions, dating 1930s. They feature a unique hand woven design in earth towns, typical for the Portuguese design of that time, and a new soft army green colored backing material. Back opening for inserting a rectangular cushion. Not just a cushion, but a small piece of Portuguese history and craftsmanship. The cushion cover is 40cm in diameter. Please note that we sell only the cover not the cushion.
