Erik Wørts was a renowned Scandinavian furniture designer whose work played a pivotal role in shaping the Mid-Century Modern era. He gained particular acclaim for his groundbreaking collaboration with the Swedish furniture manufacturer IKEA. For the then-expanding company, he designed functional, aesthetically sophisticated, and affordable furniture that is highly sought after by collectors and gallerists worldwide today. Wørts designed the iconic "Kolding" furniture series in 1962; reflecting the designer's Danish roots, the line was named after the Danish port city of Kolding. Pieces from the Kolding series are now among the rarest and most coveted items from IKEA's early period. The armchairs are crafted from high-quality teak, and the loose cushions are upholstered in rust-brown leather. The chairs are in excellent condition, with the leather showing only slight signs of use.
