Portrait of a young swan. Painted on canvas. Title: 'Dare!' 60 x 100 x 4 cm (deep) aubergine background. Painted by Britt Kleiberg, 1980, Amersfoort. Studio located in Harderwijk. Britt paints animals from all over the world with a story. 'Dare' is about courage, being able to stand on your own, being alone, and being self-sufficient. This young swan just walked right up to me. I couldn't help but have respect for this young male. During the coronavirus period, she has given Dutch birds extra attention! - She graduated in Graphic Design and Styling before finding her calling in contemporary art. Born into a family with a healthy interest in art, she was exposed to art at an early age and began painting at the age of 10. She loved visiting museums and is grateful for the early training she received. It has provided the background for her current journey as a contemporary artist. Positivity, colors and freedom to move The use of color is an important part of her artistic vocabulary: "Colors make people happy and I want to bring joy and positivity into the world. Her color palette can represent an animal's natural environment, a hunt or an emotion; depending on what she wants to communicate. And however more subdued, the background is also part of this. She uses strange little shapes of color to 'fill' her animals. These represent imaginary continents," she explains, "and can represent the areas where the animal belongs, or where it wants to be.
