Product description
Teak highboard from the Paola line, designed by Oswald Vermaercke for V-Form, Belgium, 1959. The upper section combines a solid sliding door with a glass sliding door, providing access to three adjustable shelves — ideal for displaying ceramics, glassware, or small sculptures. Below, two more sliding doors enclose a full-width storage space. The cabinet stands on slender, tapered solid teak legs, connected by a shaped stretcher — a detail typical of V-Form from this period, distinguishing it from the common hairpin legs of the time. Vermaercke designed for V-Form from Kortrijk throughout the 1950s and 1960s, and his work is often mentioned in the same breath as Alfred Hendrickx and the broader Belgian response to Danish modernism — closer to Arne Vodder than to the heavier French or German cabinets of the same period. Fully equipped with sliding doors, no visible deformation or loose veneer, original fittings.
