A beautiful and extremely characteristic oil painting by the renowned Dutch painter Jan Makkes (1935–1999). This expressive floral still life is painted in his convincing, modern-impressionistic style. The work stands out due to the very thick, pasty application of paint (impasto), which gives the flowers and details a beautiful relief and depth on the canvas. The warm and vibrant color palette jumps off the wall. Features of this artwork: - Artist: Jan Makkes (1935–1999) - Technique: Oil on linen (canvas) - Signature: Fully signed at the bottom right with his characteristic bright, pasty letters 'Makkes' - Frame: Complete with the original, solid wooden frame with a gold-colored interior and professional hanging wire on the back - Condition: The canvas itself is in excellent condition without craquelure or loss. The original wooden frame has light, characteristic signs of age that match its age. There is some slight corner wear and a few superficial spots on the side of the frame (see detail photos 7 and 8). This disappears once the work is hung and does not detract from the beautiful appearance of the whole.
