For sale is a beautiful, highly detailed original vintage/antique Thonet-style adjustable bentwood piano stool (swivel stool) dating back to the early 20th century (circa 1910-1930). It represents the classic Central European craftsmanship of the era (such as Thonet, Mundus, Fischel, or J. & J. Kohn). This is an authentic collector's piece featuring an official factory production number "914" stamped into the solid beechwood on the underside of the base, confirming its genuine heritage. The stool has a gorgeous, rich dark patina. The wooden seat showcases a stunning, highly characteristic wood grain pattern. The rim of the seat features the classic oval wooden dowels/plugs, which are a signature mark of the traditional bentwood manufacturing technique used to stabilize the curved frame. Mechanism & Hardware: The heavy-duty, black-painted metal spindle (screw) mechanism is fully functional and turns smoothly, allowing for easy height adjustment. Underneath the seat, the original three-pronged metal support bracket provides excellent structural reinforcement, a design typical for heavy-use stools from the 1910s-1930s. Condition & Character: Original Features: There are two distinct holes on the rim of the seat where a bentwood U-shaped backrest was originally attached (historically known as the "Drehstockerl mit Rücklehne" or Thonet Nr. 5101 model). It is now missing the backrest, making it an ideal classic stool, or a highly stylish accent/plant table for retro, eclectic, or classic interiors. Patina: There is a natural, minor age-related vertical hairline drying split at the bottom of one leg (clearly visible in the photos). This is standard for solid wood of this age. Thanks to the robust frame and under-seat screws, the stool remains structurally sound, stable, and completely safe to use.
