Product description
This is a pendant lamp by the Italian manufacturer Mazzega, a characteristic design from the Space Age era of the 1970s. The piece is a striking example of the innovative glassblowing art for which Murano was known during that period. The lamp combines a sculptural form with a functional design, typical of Mazzega's designs.
Mazzega (AV Mazzega) is a renowned Italian glass manufacturer, founded in 1946 on the island of Murano near Venice, which grew into a legendary producer of artistic Lighting in the 1960s and 70s.
The lamp is made of thick, hand-blown Murano glass. The shade consists of two parts: an upper section of white opal glass and a lower part of clear, textured glass with a warm, amber hue at the base. This combination provides both diffuse and direct light. The fixture and chain are made of chromed metal, which forms a sleek contrast with the organic glasswork.
The overall condition of the lamp is very good, in accordance with its age. The glasswork is completely intact and retains its original clarity and color. The chrome work is shiny and shows only minimal traces of time, contributing to the authentic character of this vintage object.
With its unique lighting effect and striking silhouette, this lamp is a statement piece in various interior styles, from Mid-Century Modern to eclectic and contemporary. The lamp is particularly suitable as ambient lighting above a dining table, in a seating area.
