Minotti Studio Superquadra 122x128cm Sahara Noir Palisander
The Superquadra furniture line, designed by Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan / Studio MK27, takes its name from the pilot design by Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer, conceived in 1956 for a residential area in Brasília and presented as a series of simple prefabricated houses.
The square volumes of the famous buildings, suspended from flexible pilotis, have been reimagined and characterize the sideboards, benches, coffee tables, console tables, and tables in the Superquadra family.
The architectural impression that characterizes the airy volumes of the Superquadra storage furniture translates into the graphic minimalism of the Superquadra line of coffee tables, benches, and console tables.
The elements rest on a base with protruding legs, made of aluminum with a polished Brandy lacquer finish, giving the products an ultra-lightweight appearance. The understated design is enlivened by a mix of high-quality materials—marble, wood, fabric, and leather—used for the shelves and seats, interpreted in a modern, textured style. With Superquadra, Marcio Kogan / Studio MK27 affirms the identity of a style rooted in the 1950s, with a blend of features that balance the past and the present.
The sofas, characterized by varying upholstery densities, are available in two heights (34 and 42 cm) and four versions: with full fabric or leather upholstery (126x128 cm), with a seat combined with a dark brown-stained Santos rosewood top (126x128 cm), with a seat combined with a Calacatta or Sahara Noir marble top (182x58 cm), or with two tops, in solid wood and Calacatta marble or in wood and Sahara Noir marble (182x102 cm).
The coffee tables are square or rectangular and available in two heights. In addition to versions with a Calacatta marble or Sahara Noir marble top with a matte polyester lacquer finish, both crafted using the folding technique, they are also available with a single-piece top in dark brown-stained Santos rosewood with a matte polyester lacquer finish, or a dark brown-stained Canaletto walnut top.
The furniture accessories are characterized by their bold textures, clearly visible in the versions with a striking top in a combination of marble and solid wood.
The Superquadra coffee tables, designed to be placed alongside sofas and chairs, embody an elegant interplay of overlapping elements that also appeals to the console table, demonstrating the intense compositional versatility of the line.
