Founded in 1933, Anvia (Algemene Nederlandse Verlichtingsindustrie Almelo) became one of the most important Dutch lighting manufacturers of the mid-20th century. While the company is best known for its functional yet elegant designs of the 1950s and 1960s, Anvia also embraced new design trends in the 1980s, resulting in bold and playful pieces such as this Memphis style desk lamp.
The lamp features a geometrically inspired construction with sharp lines and a vibrant color palette of red, black, and yellow. Clearly reflecting the influence of the Memphis Group founded by Ettore Sottsass in Italy, this striking postmodern design combines function with sculptural expression. Its bright contrasts and distinctive form make it a true statement object.
This model is rare and highly collectible, representing a unique chapter in Anvia’s history. It is in very good vintage condition, showing only minor signs of age. A must-have for enthusiasts of Dutch and postmodern design.
