Wassily armchair, designed by Marcel Breuer, manufactured by Knoll, late 1970s.
The iconic Wassily, also known as the B3 chair, was designed by Breuer in 1925 and is considered a milestone of Bauhaus design. Inspired by bicycle handlebars and constructed of bent steel tubing with a leather seat, back, and armrests, the chair combines functionality and elegance in an innovative way.
This example was purchased in the late 1970s at Möbelhof Lohmann in Hamm, Germany—one of the few retailers at the time that sold Knoll and Cassina furniture. The leather is engraved with the name Marcel Breuer, a detail used by both Gavina (the original manufacturer) and Knoll during that period. In good vintage condition with minor signs of wear commensurate with its age.
