For sale is a completely restored Ludvig Pontoppidan Coffee Table in mint condition.
OBJECT:
Coffee table from the 1960s
Style: Mid - Century / Scandinavian
DESCRIPTION:
This coffee table impresses with its minimalist design and the very beautiful, lively grain of the warm-looking teak wood. The slender legs give the coffee table a very delicate but modern aesthetic. An all-round shadow gap on the legs and frames gives the coffee table a certain exclusivity. The legs and frames are made of solid teak and the solid table top is finished with a mirrored teak veneer. Another special feature is that the table top is set into the frames, so that the frames form the edge of the table.
Pontoppidan is known for craftsmanship at the highest level using selected, high-quality materials, which is impressively underlined by this piece of furniture.
This coffee table is an excellent addition to classic and modern environments as well as for lovers of clear, no-frills shapes.
MANUFACTURER / DESIGNER:
Ludvig Pontoppidan, Denmark
MATERIAL:
Oiled teak
COLOR:
teak (dark brown with a beautiful reddish tint and natural color nuances)
Info:
The photos are high exposed, so that the 1a condition is also visible in detail! Reddish tones become redder and colors become generally brighter. The shadow areas or the areas not directly illuminated by the photo light best reflect the natural color tones. Gloss on the photos or grayish or milky areas are also due to exposure or lighting (reflections). The surfaces are silk matt to silk gloss.
DIMENSIONS:
approx. W: 125cm; D: 60cm; H: 45cm
CONDITION:
The table is technically and visually in an impeccable, very good and as new condition. It is comparable to an exhibition condition and has, if at all, only very minor signs of use. You will not find any of the usual marks and scratches, especially on the table surface. The table legs are also in excellent condition. There is simply no need to describe anything else. Grade 1 with no ifs or buts!
IMPORTANT!
Keep your eyes open when buying furniture! What you should look out for when comparing and buying tables!
Please do not compare our TOP-DESIGNCLASSIX restoration of tables with the offers of other suppliers advertised as "restored" or even as "professionally restored", which often consist of simply sprucing up the furniture a little with wood/teak oil or furniture polish or trying to remove flaws and scratches with DIY store materials. You can recognize this in particular when the table tops do not appear homogeneous in colour, but rather blotchy. You will also often see dark stains around the corners and edges of the table tops, the frames or the legs, which are evidence that an amateurish attempt has been made to conceal the corresponding blemishes and scratches. Also look out for light-colored areas (especially around the edges), as these are abrasions and bumps that have not been worked on or, in the case of veneered surfaces, it is often a sign that the veneer has been destroyed because it has been sanded through. If you see dark lines that run across or not in the direction of the grain, then you should be very careful. These are scratches and pressure lines that are made more visible by oiling, wax application or varnishing. Removing these traces of use is very time-consuming and requires real professional knowledge and years of experience!
Therefore, take a close look when well-sounding adjectives (great, beautiful, etc.) are used in combination with "patina", the ominous "vintage condition" or the waxy phrases such as "ready to live in | age-related, usual signs of use | very good, excellent, etc. condition of use", etc. condition of use" etc. are used.
Extreme caution is advised when table surfaces appear cloudy or stained. In this case, colored clear lacquer or colored furniture wax was used in an attempt to save the furniture from disposal and to conceal clearly visible defects!
Therefore, pay particular attention to whether high-resolution photos and detailed photos are available and whether these also show the typical areas that have been damaged. Otherwise, ask for close-up photos of the "patina or signs of wear" and then compare the price/condition ratio. Remember that a qualified restoration is long-lasting and many times more expensive than a short-lived sales optimization!
