Product description
TOP-DESIGNCLASSIX ™ "Design classics, design & vintage furniture as new"
For sale is a completely restored Ludvig Pontoppidan Coffee Table in mint condition.
ITEM:
Coffee table from the 1960s
Style: Mid-Century / Scandinavian
DESCRIPTION:
This coffee table impresses with its minimalist design and the very beautiful, lively grain of the warm-looking teak wood. The slender legs give the coffee table a very delicate yet modern aesthetic. A continuous shadow gap on the legs and frames gives the coffee table a certain exclusivity. The legs and frames are made of solid teak wood, and the solid tabletop is fitted with a mirrored teak veneer. Another special feature is that the tabletop is recessed into the frames, so the frames form the table edge.
Pontoppidan is known for craftsmanship of the highest level using selected, high-quality materials, which this piece of furniture impressively underlines.
This coffee table is an excellent addition to classic and modern environments, as well as for lovers of clear, unadorned forms.
MANUFACTURER / DESIGNER:
Ludvig Pontoppidan, Denmark
MATERIAL:
Oiled teak wood
COLOR:
teak (dark brown with a beautiful reddish tint and natural color nuances)
Info:
The photos are highly exposed so that the pristine condition is visible in detail! Reddish tints become redder, and colors generally become lighter. The shadow areas or areas not directly illuminated by the photo light best represent the true colors. Gloss on the photos or grayish or milky areas are also due to exposure or lighting (reflections). The surfaces are semi-matte to semi-glossy.
DIMENSIONS:
approx. W: 125cm; D: 60cm; H: 45cm
CONDITION:
The table is technically and visually in impeccable, very good, and mint condition. It is comparable to an exhibition piece and has only very minor signs of wear, if any. Especially on the tabletop, you will not find any of the often usual dents and scratches. The table legs are also in excellent condition. No more description is needed. Grade 1 without ifs or buts!
IMPORTANT!
Keep your eyes open when buying furniture! What you should pay attention to when comparing and buying tables!
Please do not compare our restoration of tables with offers from other providers advertised as "restored" or even "professionally restored", which often consist of merely sprucing up the furniture a little with wood/teak oil or furniture polish, or attempting to remove dents and scratches with DIY store materials. You can recognize this particularly when the tabletops do not appear homogeneously colored, but rather patchy. Also, in the area of corners and edges of the tabletops, the frames, or the legs, dark spots are often visible, which indicate that an amateurish attempt was probably made to conceal corresponding dents and scratches. Also pay attention to light spots (especially in the edge area), as these are abrasions and bumps that have not been treated, or in the case of veneered surfaces, it is often a sign that the veneer is destroyed because it has been sanded through. If you see dark lines running across or not in the direction of the grain, then extreme caution is advised. These are scratches and pressure lines that become even more visible later due to oiling, waxing, or varnishing. The removal of these signs of wear is very complex, requires real professional knowledge and years of experience!
Therefore, look closely when pleasant-sounding adjectives (great, beautiful, etc.) are used in combination with "patina", the ominous "vintage condition" or vague phrases such as "ready to live in | age-related, usual signs of wear | very good, excellent etc. used condition" etc.
Extreme caution is advised if table surfaces appear cloudy or patchy. Here, an attempt was made to save the furniture from disposal and conceal clearly visible defects with colored clear lacquer or colored furniture wax!
Therefore, pay particular attention to whether high-resolution photos and detailed photos are available and whether these also show the typical stressed areas. Otherwise, have corresponding close-ups of the "patina or signs of wear" sent to you and then compare the price-condition ratio. Remember that a qualified restoration is durable and many times the effort of a short-lived sales optimization!
