Product description
Two vintage educational games combined in one lot, testaments to the teaching materials used in French schools and homes in the 1950s-1960s. The lot includes: Fernand Nathan – Paris Box: a brightly illustrated rectangular box containing educational stamps depicting various road signs. Stamps with wooden handles and rubber heads. "Jean-Pierre Rubber Stamps – Highway Code" Box: an illustrated square box featuring all the main highway code signs. Stamps with wooden bases and rubber imprints. Note: one stamp is missing from this box. These games allowed children to learn to recognize traffic signs in a fun way, by stamping the different road signs onto paper. Learning through play, typical of post-war active pedagogy. The colorful illustrations on the boxes are characteristic of 1950s-1960s educational graphic design, with their bold, round, triangular, and square signs. Material: cardboard, wood, rubber Brands: Fernand Nathan (Paris) and Jean-Pierre Era: 1950s-1960s Condition: wear consistent with age, one stamp missing from the square box Ideal for: collections of antique educational games, vintage school decor, automotive history enthusiasts
