Large, characterful vintage monastery/refectory table with an exceptional two-tone tabletop and a striking, heavy wooden frame. The table measures approximately 188 × 117 × 76.6 cm in its standard configuration. A separate 56 cm wide extension leaf is also included, extending the table to an impressive total length of approximately 244 cm, providing ample space. The tabletop has acquired signs of wear over the years and has therefore been carefully sanded and treated with walnut oil. The oil treatment protects the wood, accentuates the natural grain, and gives the surface its warm, natural appearance. The separate extension leaf has not been refinished and retains its original surface and color. Because the tabletop has been oiled, subsequent varnishing or painting is not possible without proper preparation. For maintenance, the surface can be treated again with walnut oil as needed. The table is used and therefore shows signs of age and use, along with a patina. The construction also has some play, which means the table may wobble slightly. This should be explicitly mentioned for the sake of completeness. Due to its size and weight, collection is strongly preferred.
