Large Space Age tripod sphere floor lamp in orange by an unknown designer, circa 1970s. This wonderful floor lamp perfectly captures the optimistic futurism of the Space Age era. Featuring a large orange sphere resting on a slender metal tripod base, the design embodies the bold forms, vibrant colours and experimental spirit that defined the late 1960s and early 1970s. The oversized sphere is made of thick plastic and has a beautiful sculptural presence whether illuminated or not. When lit, the orange globe emits a warm, atmospheric glow that transforms the entire object into a luminous sculpture. The minimalist metal tripod provides a light visual contrast to the substantial sphere, giving the lamp its distinctive and playful character. The lamp remains in good vintage condition. One of the original foot caps is missing, and the sphere shows some surface scratches consistent with its age and use. These minor imperfections do little to detract from its striking appearance. A pure Space Age design and a beautiful example of 1970s lighting, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a sculptural and highly decorative piece by an as-yet unidentified designer.
