In French kitchens and dining rooms of the first half of the 20th century, Digoin tableware was a daily essential. Solid, substantial, and often colorful, it graced large family tables. This large oval cream earthenware dish from the 1930s-1950s is a beautiful example. In the center, a bouquet of red roses surrounded by green foliage and small blue flowers brings vibrant color to the decor. A fine cobalt blue line follows the curve of the well. Its clean tracing simply structures the piece and highlights the warmth of the cream enamel glaze. The wide faceted rim gives the dish a particularly recognizable silhouette. Light glides over its facets, enlivening the rim and meeting the brilliant reflections of the well. The Digoin stamp is still present on the reverse side. Worn by the decades, it remains sufficiently legible to identify the manufacturer. The earthenware shows traces of its age and use, visible in the photographs. The dish measures approximately 35 cm by 26 cm.
