Splendid and large intimate portrait of an elegant elderly woman, executed in oil paint on a solid wood panel. This work of great sensitivity is distinguished by remarkable execution and a profusion of subtle details that tell a true story. A luminous and refined composition: The painting immerses us in the cozy atmosphere of a well-appointed and warm room. The model: A woman with a lively gaze and a benevolent smile, discreetly made up. She is seated with distinction, wearing a long dark skirt and a refined blouse with feline motifs (leopard/jaguar). Her crossed hands reveal delicate jewelry. The play of light: A true beam of golden light escapes from the lampshade of a table lamp, intensely illuminating the model and the floral and golden fabric of her armchair. The background: The red wall is adorned with miniature frames in the background. To the right, a second room plunged into semi-darkness subtly hints at another hanging painting. The foreground still life: On an elegant varnished wooden pedestal table, the artist has carefully rendered the glassware (a transparent glass of water and a large cut glass ashtray). The framing: The painting is enhanced by its original, heavy and valuable frame, made of genuine burl wood molding with precious grain. The black inner border is magnificently decorated with a frieze of pointed volutes in the form of golden neo-Gothic ogives. Condition of the object: The painting is in excellent condition, the colors have remained very luminous. The frame shows signs of wear on its outer edge: This natural patina of the gilding testifies to its history and enhances the object's character. Please note: A chip is present on the frame's veneer at the right corner (see detail photo which zooms in and amplifies the defect, the impact is discreet to the naked eye). The price of 199 € has been reduced to account for this slight defect, which obviously does not detract from the beauty of the signed canvas.
