In the 1920s and 1930s, tableware underwent a transformation. Floral decorations inherited from the previous century now stood alongside bolder compositions, characterized by solid colors, simple lines, and pronounced contrasts. This large oval faience platter perfectly embodies this aesthetic. Its wide, intense blue rim frames a cream-white basin with no other ornament. Nothing superfluous. This simplicity gives it a graphic presence characteristic of the Art Deco aesthetic and French interwar tableware. Originally intended for large gatherings and family service, its generous size recalls a time when serving ware truly held a central place on the table. The luminous blue interplays with the softness of the cream white. Light glides over the enamel, highlighting the depth of the basin and the regular curves of the rim. No maker's mark is visible. Its attribution remains open, subject to expert assessment. The faience shows normal signs of its age and use, visible in the photographs. The platter measures approximately 32 cm in length.
