About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
An iconic dining set from the Tulip collection, designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll International. This design is a prime example of Mid-Century Modernism, famous for its mission to solve the 'clutter of legs' under tables and chairs. The set embodies unity in form and function, with flowing, sculptural lines characteristic of Saarinen's work.
The set consists of a round dining table, four swivel dining chairs, and a matching stool. The table has an Arabescato marble top with expressive gray veining, resting on the characteristic tulip-shaped base of cast aluminum with a white Rilsan coating. The chairs and stool have a molded fiberglass shell and are equipped with black fabric seat cushions that enhance comfort. The design dates from 1957 and has been in continuous production ever since, a testament to its timeless appeal.
This specific set is in very good condition, retaining its original structure and finishes. The marble top shows the natural beauty and unique pattern of the natural stone.
First owner. The set was purchased new in 2018 at Scoonwoon in Antwerp, an official Knoll dealer.
The set was used by us at home until early 2026 and is in very good condition, without damage. Minor signs of wear and 1 small damage on the tabletop (see photo, size less than a 1 euro cent coin).
The set consists of:
- 1 Tulip dining table with round tabletop, diameter 138 cm, in beautiful Arabescato marble, satin finish and white base.
- 4 Tulip dining chairs with white shell, white base and original black fabric seat cushions (3x 'Tonus' fabric - 1x Hallingdal / Hopsak fabric). All chairs are swivel.
- 1 Tulip stool with white base and original black fabric upholstery (Tonus) - swivel.
Dimensions:
- Dining table diameter: approximately 138 cm
- Table height: approximately 74 cm
- Dining chairs: approximately 80 cm high, seat height approximately 47 cm
- Tulip stool: approximately 44 cm high
Preferably sold as a complete set.
