About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
The Barcelona Chair, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and manufactured by Knoll International, is an undisputed icon of modern furniture design. This armchair combines architectural clarity with luxurious materials and represents a milestone in design history, originally created for the German Pavilion at the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition.
The frame is made of highly polished steel, forming the characteristic, flowing X-shape. The upholstery is covered in black nappa leather, finished using the classic capitonné technique. It measures 75 cm wide, 77 cm high, and 77 cm deep. Its authenticity is confirmed by the visible Knoll Studio embossing and Mies van der Rohe's signature on the frame, as well as the Knoll logo on the upholstery fabric.
The chair is in good condition and displays an authentic patina that speaks to its history. The structural integrity of the steel frame and the quality of the leather upholstery remain fully intact, underscoring the longevity of this design.
This piece integrates seamlessly into sophisticated residential or office environments and harmonizes particularly well with minimalist, modern, or Bauhaus-inspired interiors. Whether displayed on its own or combined with contemporary art, the Barcelona Chair makes a clear statement of timeless elegance.
