Joe Colombo (1930–1971) was one of Italy’s most influential industrial designers, celebrated for his futuristic approach and his ability to blend innovation with functionality. His designs embodied the spirit of the 1960s and 1970s, pushing the boundaries of modern living with pieces that were both practical and radically new.
The rare KD-24 table lamp, produced by Husqvarna in the 1970s, is a perfect example of Colombo’s experimental use of modern materials. The lamp features an innovative acrylic plastic base, over which a matching acrylic shade slides neatly into place. This clever construction creates a streamlined, futuristic look while allowing for a seamless form. When lit, the translucent shade emits a soft, even glow that enhances the lamp’s sculptural presence.
