Joan Casas i Ortinez 'Tema' industrial vintage design barstool 1x for Indecasa Spain 1980s. This rare set of 'Tema' barstools is a refined example of Spanish design from the late twentieth century and was designed in the 1980s by Joan Casas i Ortinez for Indecasa. Their understated appearance combines industrial materials with carefully balanced proportions, resulting in a design that is just as relevant today as it was when it was introduced. Design. The barstools have a lightweight yet sturdy brushed aluminum frame with four slightly tapered legs that subtly splay towards the floor. A round footrest reinforces the construction and adds a graphic element to the overall silhouette. The slightly curved connections between the legs and the seat soften the otherwise clean architectural lines, giving the design an elegant balance between function and form. Each barstool features a solid wooden seat with a black finish, which forms a pleasant contrast with the cool aluminum frame. The combination of natural wood and industrial metal reflects the understated aesthetic that characterized much Spanish design in the last decades of the twentieth century. Although designed as practical seating furniture, the barstools possess a sculptural quality that makes them equally suitable for home interiors, hospitality projects, or architectural environments. Condition. The barstools are in very good original condition with traces of use consistent with their age. The aluminum frames show wear and the wooden seats have a light patina with some damage.
