Additional information: This table comes from the furnishings of the refreshment stand of the aero club located at the Dancourt-les-Conflans airfield (Seine-et-Oise, now Yvelines). Like much pre-war civilian equipment related to light aviation, the site was destroyed during World War II in 1944. The furniture designed by Jean Prouvé in the late 1930s for public spaces (clubs, schools, government buildings, sports facilities) is characterized by a structure made of folded and welded sheet steel, designed for robustness, mass production, and intensive use. Laminate or melamine tabletops appeared during this period due to their durability and ease of maintenance. Documented original tables linked to specific orders (such as this one for an aero club) are particularly sought after in the design market.
