This centerpiece bowl reflects the taste for natural fiber and mixed-material objects that defined Italian design of the 1970s. Its oval, boat-like form is built from tightly coiled pencil reed strips of warm honey-toned rattan, banded together at intervals with narrow woven ties along the sides. A polished brass rim traces the entire opening, following the elongated oval line of the piece and giving the profile a finished, tailored edge. The reed courses run horizontally around the body, curving gently at the pointed ends, while the interior repeats the same coiled banding down to a rounded base.
